ORRVILLE, OH (August 4, 2008) - Making a peanut butter sandwich has never been more rewarding. The makers of Jif® peanut butter, the number one choice of choosy moms, announced today a call-for-entries for the Seventh Annual Jif® Most Creative Peanut Butter Sandwich Contest™. The grand prize is a $25,000 scholarship fund with four runners-up receiving a $2,500 scholarship fund. Parents can help their kids (ages 6-12) enter this nationwide contest between August 4, 2008 and November 14, 2008.

"The kitchen is a fun learning environment for parents and children," said Maribeth Badertscher, Director, Corporate Communications, The J.M. Smucker Company. "Through the Jif Most Creative Peanut Butter Sandwich Contest, the makers of Jif peanut butter encourage parents and children to explore their creativity and invent a one-of-a-kind recipe together."

For the past six years, thousands of kid chefs from across the country have reinvented the classic peanut butter sandwich to make lettuce wraps, butterfly pancakes and barbecue chicken sandwiches all made with Jif peanut butter. Different culinary styles and cultural backgrounds have inspired kids to make a "sandwich" with their favorite foods, including last year's most creative sandwich which was inspired by a love of Chinese food. Eleven-year-old Samuel Sosa of Riverside, California hit a home run with his "Crunchy Chinese Fortune Cookies," consisting of Jif Creamy peanut butter, celery and apple on wheat bread crimped into the shape of a fortune cookie. The "fortune cookies" are served with a dipping sauce of Jif Creamy Peanut Butter, coconut milk, soy sauce, brown sugar, lemon juice, sesame oil and chili powder. Samuel added more creativity to his sandwich by handwriting fortunes such as, "Smile, Mom Loves You," for his cookies.

The Jif Most Creative Peanut Butter Sandwich Contest is open to children ages 6 to 12, and sandwiches will be judged on the following criteria: creativity, nutritional balance, taste, appearance and ease of preparation. For Official Rules and entry form visit www.jif.com. Entries must be postmarked by November 14, 2008 and received by November 21, 2008: Jif Most Creative Peanut Butter Sandwich Contest, c/o Cohn & Wolfe, P.O. Box 4162, Grand Central Station, New York, NY 10163.
